Baby Pibu Review

I received a sample from Baby Pibu for the sole purpose of this review

Having children has definitely made me think about our health and the things we put on our skin much more. I have tried to stick with as natural of items as I possibly can. It's hard to make the full switch, but any time I get a chance to buy a more natural option, I do. Why not? There really is no downfall to it besides the price which is usually a bit or significantly more than the non natural alternative.

I had a chance to try out Baby Pibu recently and sampled their Newborn Essentials Skincare Kit.

Included is Hydrating Ointment, Baby Butter, Bottom Balm, a hair brush, Gentle Scalp Lather, Bathtime Wash, Rash Relief, Intensive Bottom Relief and Baby Sunscreen
My daughter has moderate eczema on her hands during the winter...
So we put on the rash relief (great for chapped skin and dermatitis) and it really helps stop the itching so she can properly heal
The Baby Butter

Both bottom balms include zinc oxide, so I can't use them on my cloth diapers, but when my kids get rashy I put them in a disposable and use this stuff. I love that it comes with a large one and a small one. I can put the small one in the diaper bag for emergencies.
And I like the size of the sunscreen for the same reason. I can put it in the diaper bag in case I forget to apply before we leave the house. I'm sure this will get plenty of use this summer.

The Rash Relief has really helped my 6.5 year olds hands. They get so bad in the winter and we haven't found anything that helps as of yet. Although her hands aren't healed yet, this puts a nice barrier on them so she stops scratching. It should allow them to heal up nicely as we're approaching Spring now.

The 2-in-1 bathtime wash is really great. It's for hair and body and is tear free.

I love that all of the Baby Pibu items are natural and are safe for your children's very delicate skin. I also love that they come in this kit which saves you money!
It also makes the perfect baby shower gift. It's unique, but not overly expensive to give to an expecting mother. And although it's called the Newborn Essentials kit, it's good for all ages.

Price: The Gift Set is $98. The Hydrating Ointment is $18 for 4oz. Individually the items are wonderfully priced.

Overall *****
*Disclaimer* I received an item directly from Baby Pibu in exchange for a review. I was not paid to try out these products*
A big thank you goes out to Baby Pibu for allowing me to review this product and for offering a giveaway

This looks like a great kit. I love that it includes sunscreen. A bit pricey, but seems worth it!

Perhaps you'd be interested in the pictures on my blog.

Be warned, they are quite graphic.

They show the damage done to my skin by steroid creams over the years.

I started with mild creams like hydrocortisone (the same as baby pibu rash relief) and gradually progressed or stronger creams up until they stopped working altogether.

My skin thinned and atrophied and burned. I went through a terrible withdrawal phase.

I beg you, for the sake of your children, do NOT use steroid creams for eczema and please do not use them on newborn skin.

These products are anything but safe and natural as they are made out to be.

Please don't let your precious childrens skin end up like mine.

Baby Pibu is the first company to manufacture, promote, and sell skin care products that contain the drug hydrocortisone, a topical steroid, for babies.

Hydrocortisone does nothing to cure eczema, it only mask the symptoms. When the steroids are stopped, the eczema will most likely return. Over time, the steroids become less and less effective, so stronger steroids must be used. Eventually, the steroids not only don’t work anymore, they are actually causing “steroid induced eczema”. Also, topical steroids can have serious side effects, including affecting the adrenal system and even causing glaucoma.

This “topical steroid addiction” only has one cure: total cessation of steroids, and the ensuing tropical steroid withdrawal (TSW) can be a living hell. I know this firsthand, as do thousands of other people or their children going through TSW. Please visit itsan dot org for additional information or do an Internet search for “topical steroid withdrawal” or “red skin syndrome”. ITSAN, the International Topical Steroid Addiction Network, is a tax exempt charity with a mission is to support individuals during TSW fostering physician and patient education for prevention and treatment and raising awareness.

Most doctors are either unaware of TSW or choose to ignore it and continue to suggest or prescribe steroids because to do so is extremely effective in the short term. Well meaning doctors and parents want to do what helps their child, but it can be very harmful in the long run.

Baby Pibu markets a line of skin care products for babies that for the most part are harmless, with one glaring exception. "Baby Pibu Rash Relief" contains the steroid hydrocortisone. Baby Pibu has recently been made aware of TSW and has actually stopped sales of the standalone Rash Relief product, but continues to include it in an "Eczema Care" kit and a "Newborn Essentials Skincare Set", and retailers such as you may still carry it.

Baby Pibu claims that The National Eczema Association has accepted its products, but that does not include Rash Relief. The NEA states directly that steroids should not be used on children under age 2.

I am requesting that you cease sales of any Baby Pibu products that contain hydrocortisone. Please contact Baby Pibu and request that they only supply you with non-steroid products to sell.

Thank you.
