2017 Toyota Prius Prime

2017 Toyota Prius Prime

Are you in the market for a very energy efficient hybrid car? The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime just might be the car for you. The Toyota Prius Prime is a plug-in hybrid and gets 54 MPG and 133 MPGEe (on the battery).

I recently drove the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime to Chicago (from Detroit) and was so pleased with the gas mileage and the smooth ride the Prius provided.

With a Base Price of $28,800 the Prius Prime is right in the middle of the spectrum of new car prices. But with it's gas mileage, you're sure to save a TON of money on gas. Plus it's a plug-in hybrid so if you live in the city, there's a good chance you'll mostly use battery life.

Steering Wheel Mounted Controls make driving the Prius a breeze, they allow everything right at your fingertips so you don't need to take your eyes off the road.
But that screen!!! PLEASE let's talk about the 11.6" HD Multimedia Display right there in the middle! It's AMAZING!!!!

I love that the rear backup camera is now industry standard and is in every single vehicle newer than a 2016 (maybe 2015?)

2 cupholders in the front, heated seats for both front seats, and a large center console. The back row of the Prius Prime is only 2 seats, making this a 4 seater car, but the center console with 2 cupholders back there was pretty neat.

Despite the Prius Prime only being 4 seats, it was still a very nice vehicle to drive and I honestly didn't have any complaints, except that the iPhone doesn't charge on their built in Qi-compatible charger. Your phone must be compatible to work on this dock, but it's a very nice feature that most Toyota's include!

The Prius Prime had plenty of legroom in the front, and had decent rear legroom as well.

Lots of trunk room with the 60/40 split seat fold down.

Overall the Prius was a blast to take on a road trip. I got to Chicago (303 miles) in less than half a tank, but I wasn't able to charge the battery all weekend, so I filled the tank on the way home and used a little more than 3/4 of the tank. Still a very reliable vehicle whether on gas or electric.

The Prius Prime comes with apps that you can use to control the temperature of the interior of your car, as well as LOCATE your vehicle, a charging station map, charge management and more. A very  smart decision.

Safety is very important as well and that's why the Prime includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, and my favorite, the Full Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. This is when you can set your cruise control and it adjusts to the vehicle in front of you. I had my cruise set at 73 the whole way to Chicago, if someone got in front of me and was doing 65, my cruise matched it. It means I don't have to think about breaking or adjusting the vehicle speed, Prime does it for me!

The Prime I tested came in at $29,685 but was hands down worth the price. I absolutely loved this Prime, the screen was hugely awesome and so was the gas mileage!
