LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan, Fans Choose GM REN CEN for Miniland Display

LEGOLAND® DISCOVERY CENTER MICHIGAN FANS CHOOSE GMRENCEN AS TOP LOCAL ATTRACTION FOR MINILAND DISPLAY
The LEGO brick model of the complex will be unveiled at a special event at the GMRENCEN early next year

LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Michigan today announced the GMRENCEN as the Metro Detroit area’s favorite landmark, as determined by a public fan vote. Along with the top 10 landmarks selected in a prior round of voting, the GMRENCEN will be constructed from LEGO® bricks and displayed in MINILAND when the attraction opens next spring. The GMRENCEN model will be unveiled onsite at a special event early next year.
Situated along Detroit’s international riverfront, the GMRENCEN is an iconic collection of seven interconnected skyscrapers that are owned by and serve as the world headquarters for General Motors. The central tower, the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, is the tallest building in Michigan and the tallest all-hotel skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.
“Not only is the GMRENCEN an iconic part of the Detroit skyline, but it is a symbol of Michigan’s industry, culture and spirit of innovation,” said Hayley Anderson, general manager for LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan. “We are thrilled to have engaged so many members of our community in choosing local landmarks for MINILAND and are excited to debut our GMRENCEN LEGO model at the complex early next year.”
To achieve the top slot in the MINILAND vote, the GMRENCEN was chosen by fans from nine other beloved Metro Detroit landmarks that will also be featured in MINILAND, including the Spirit of Detroit, Belle Isle, Motown Museum, Fox Theater, Guardian Building, Comerica Park, Uniroyal Tire, Michigan Central Station and the Heidelberg Project.
Opening at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in spring 2016, LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Michigan’s MINILAND will be a miniature LEGO brick landscape inspired by metro Detroit’s buildings, attractions and other notable landmarks. MINILAND is one of the most highly anticipated displays at each new LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan will be a 32,000-square-foot indoor attraction featuring millions of LEGO bricks and themed exhibits including a 4D cinema, two interactive rides, large soft play areas and much more.
