I received an Instant Pot for the sole purpose of this review
Being a mother to 3 young children, makes it really hard to have dinner on the table sometimes. Any item that makes my life and especially mealtimes easier is an item for me. I'm a huge fan of a slow cooker, used one probably at least twice a week every week for the past 4-5 years at least. But when I really found the Instant Pot, I was instantly hooked. HAD to have it. It's like a slow cooker, but fast. Call it a fast cooker if you want. But it's AWESOME!!
Comes with a manual and a Cooker Guide for times and such
Safety lid lock, anti blockage vent, automatic temperature control and 14 built in programs make the Instant pot super EASY and SAFE to use!
All the settings. Soup, yogurt, saute and SO much more!!
The bottom is the heat plate inside...
Then your bowl goes inside there and cooks the food, plus it's stainless steel so super easy to clean when done.
Comes with accessories too, a basket which is great for vegetables so they're not sitting in the liquid, measuring cup and 2 spoons
First I made Salmon with Green Beans and potatoes.
I did beans and potatoes first since they took longer, and then did the salmon. Frozen fish fillets take just 4 minutes in the instant pot. It really is INSTANT!
Then I did a pasta dish. Sauteed everything on the sautee setting and then threw in the rest of the ingredients (including pasta) and I think it cooked for 6 minutes? and then throw in a dish with cheese and broil for a few minutes. Whole thing was done in about 20 minutes including chopping! You can't beat that.
The Instant Pot definitely takes some getting used to as it's SUPER quick! BUT it's an easy adjustment for sure. How many times do you look at the clock and realize it's 4-5pm and you think "Crud, what's for dinner?" YUP, me too! BUT now you can just take frozen fish or chicken out of the freezer, pop it in here and have a meal in a very short amount of time.
For me, making fish with a side and veggies isn't ideal in the Instant Pot. It takes about 5-10 minutes just to warm up and get ready and then cook, so I think it's great for main meals and meat, but sides can be made faster say in a steamer on the stove. Or at least be done around the same time.
But the Instant Pot is FANTASTIC for casseroles (like I made above) or things like making baby food or canning, where you only need 1 ingredient. I was totally amazed at the fact that I made that pasta dish in just about 10 minutes (not including sauteeing and broiling after). It was incredibly fast and the kids were happy to have dinner on the table so fast.
The Instant Pot has so many settings that I still need to get used too, like making yogurt, chili and more. I will definitely explore more as time goes on. But so far I really do love it!
One thing I'll advise, ALWAYS wear cooking gloves when you undo the pressure on the lid. You cook your item and then when it beeps you release the pressure valve. It will spit out a very hot, wet steam and you want to protect yourself from getting burnt. Otherwise it's a great little device and I can't wait to learn more.
Price: a $235 unit is now just $132 on (affiliate link) Amazon a killer deal!!
Code MFT30 is good for $30 off any unit on their Website
Overall: **** I'll probably only use for meats and casseroles/chilis/stews, but otherwise it's a great unit and it works really well!
*Disclaimer* I received an item directly from Instant Pot in exchange for a review. I was not paid to try out this product*
A big thank you goes out to Instant Pot for allowing me to review this product

I have seen this incredible pot before and think that it is amazing and would really help me speed up my dinners by putting my meat in and having it moist and done fast! I would love to own one of these, and your frozen fish filets only took 4 minutes. Now that is fast!!

I had no idea they made electric pressure cookers. This looks so much easier to use than a stove top model.

Thanks for your excellent review of an amazing pressure cooker, or fast cooker as you called it.. I appreciate the fact that you let your readers know all of the good things about it, but also let us know to wear gloves when the meal is done and you take ofc the lid. I have had steam burns before and they really hurt.
