Mommy's Favorite Things: Why we choose NOT to Vaccinate

Why we choose NOT to Vaccinate

I know this is a super hot topic that can get really heated. I'm not trying to start a great debate here, but wanted to post the reasons I believe it's safest NOT to vaccinate. This is a decision WE have made for our family and it's not the decision for everyone.

Let me start by saying my daughter is almost 7 and she was been fully vaccinated up until this point. I was a young mother and did everything mainstream with her and didn't question anything really.
My middle son was fully vaccinated until he was 2 (which means he got a good amount of vaccines). I had started questioning vaccines when he was about 18 months, but wanted to do full research before deciding to stop them altogether. I finally came to the conclusion about a month before he was due for his 2 year appt.
That also means my youngest is not vaccinated at all. I did the Vitamin K shot at birth, but I skipped the eye ointment and the hepatitis shot at birth.

Reason #1: The Ingredients
First of all is the ingredients right from the CDC site
Some of those are QUITE scary. Aluminum, Formaldehyde, Monkey Kidney cells and so much more. It's really disgusting what they will put in a vaccine to try and protect our kids. How is a monkey kidney supposed to protect our bodies?

Reason #2: The Risk of Side Effects
Vaccines are a drug and drugs have side effects. Some go away in time and others case permanent damage. This information is right from the vaccine makers and the CDC. They print side effects on the vaccine packaging for a real reason. That means that side effect has happened to at least 1 person. Then they try to make it seem like no big deal so we think it's nearly impossible for our kids to get injured. Doctors will say it's practically a one in a million chance. Do you really think they're studying 1,000,000 people in their focus group? No, if they study 500, then that's 1 in 500 and I'm NOT willing to make my children that 1! And since I have 3 children that means we have a 3 in 500 chance! Or a 1 in 166.7 chance. NO THANK YOU!

Before I started researching I didn't know that children could be hurt by vaccines. Sure they could have an allergic reaction to something in them, but physically, mentally or otherwise INJURED? I had no idea. Did you know that there are more than 340,000 reports of adverse reactions to vaccines? Listed here. It lists all the different reactions to vaccines on the current CDC schedule.

DTaP
“Adverse events reported during post-approval use of Tripedia vaccine include idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, SIDS, anaphylactic reaction, cellulitis, autism, convulsion/grand mal convulsion, encephalopathy, hypotonia, neuropathy, somnolence and apnea. Events were included in this list because of the seriousness or frequency of reporting. Because these events are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequencies or to establish a causal relationship to components of Tripedia vaccine.” ~Manufacture package insert http://www.fda.gov/downloads/BiologicsBloodVaccines/Vaccines/ApprovedProducts/ucm101580.pdf

Varicella (Chickenpox): Can Chickenpox Vaccine Cause Injury and Death?
“Yes. Between March 1995 and July 1998, the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) received 6,574 reports of health problems after chickenpox vaccination. That translates into 67.5 adverse events per 100,000 doses of vaccine or one in 1,481 vaccinations. About four percent of cases (about 1 in 33,000 doses) were serious including shock, encephalitis, thrombocytopenia (blood disorder) and 14 deaths.

AND SO SO MUCH MORE.

Reason #3: Vaccines Have NOT been Tested for Safety
“There are no control group studies. Authorities consider that “to not vaccinate” is unethical and have refused to study unvaccinated volunteers. If control studies were done according to honest science, vaccination would be outlawed. Studies which have been done are not designed to eliminate the examiners bias. Authorities who compile and report disease statistics work closely with and have a vested interest in companies which produce vaccines. In other countries, this kind of bias is not tolerated. Injuries and deaths in these studies are attributed to anything but vaccination to skew the results and make it appear that vaccines have some merit.” http://www.sayingnotovaccines.com/

Carcinogenicity--We have done no testing for the carcinogenicity of MF-59 or any of our vaccines. We haven’t done it and we don’t plan to."
Dr. Novicki, Scientist, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, F.D.A.-N.I.H. Meeting 12/2008

“How can you have a product on the market where you do not provide proper liver toxicity data?” Vijendra Singh, Ph D Research Associate Professor, Neuroimmunology, Dept. of Biology, Utah State University

“Incredible as it sounds a controlled study comparing vaccinated and unvaccinated children has never been done in America for any vaccination...The only explanation for this is bias and political pressure...This means that vaccination is essentially a large scale experiment in our nation’s children.”
Dr. Philip Incao MD Hepatitis B Vaccine Testimony, 1999

Vaccinated Kids 2-5 more diseases than unvaccinated. Vaccines are not safe or Effective. http://www.thepetwhisperer.com/big-study-vaccinated-kids-2-5-more-diseases-than-unvaccinated-vaccines-are-not-safe-or-effective/

Reason 4: Unnecessary Vaccinations
These might be just my opinion, but I feel the following are unnecessary.

Flu Shot
Most people think that the flu is the kind where you throw up and get really sick. In reality it is an upper respiratory infection and is like a really bad cold. It can cause children to throw up, but really i's not as bad as people think. The flu shot contains formaldehyde and thimerosol (mercury...). It's worth getting a bad cold instead of injecting yourself with these, I think anyway.

“Influenza transmission can be prevented or reduced in home and health care settings with hand washing, masking, and separating sick and healthy persons.”
“Influenza viruses constantly evolve and, depending upon the year, the flu shot may or may not match strains associated with reported influenza cases.”
“The influenza vaccine is less than 70 percent effective in preventing influenza, and like all pharmaceutical products, use of influenza vaccine is not without risk of vaccine injury.”

Chickenpox
For obvious reasons I think... It's pretty harmless and children benefit from having it.
“The chickenpox vaccine only gives temporary immunity and leaves older children and adults vulnerable to chickenpox later in life when complications can be much more serious. Mass use of the chickenpox vaccine by children has eliminated the opportunity for natural asymptomatic boosting of immunity in adults and left adults vulnerable to shingles later in life.”

Those are just some of the reasons why. There are so many more. But I have come to the educated and informed conclusion that vaccines can do more harm than good.
I feel that they have possibly caused my daughter's issues (colic, reflux, and now been diagnosed ADHD and ODD, but I believe Bipolar and ODD). This can't be proven, but I'm not taking the chance with my youngest.

Here are the vaccine inserts.

Thank you for sharing this. I know it is hard because it is such a heated issue and people can be very mean, especially people online. We chose not to vaccinate our children as well. I am very glad we did so because my son was born with a muscle abnormality and no saying what a vaccine could have done to his weak body. I think everyone should fully research vaccines. Everyone thinks autism is the only side effect that can happen and people say that was misproven. But there are so many other reasons why we think it is best not to vaccinate.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I will not be vaccinating my children when I have them in the future and feel very blessed I have educated myself on such an important topic. Good for you, Mama, for doing whats best for your babies :) xx

It make me really upset when people don't vaccinate. We are having outbreaks of Whooping Cough, Mumps, and Measles that are killing children in the US because kids aren't vaccinated. And every child whose parents chose not to vaccinate them is putting those children who can't be vaccinated at risk. There has been no study that has proven a link between vaccines and autism. Even if there is a slight risk, I'd rather have an autistic child than a dead child, and I say that as a mother of a special needs child and an aunt to children with autism.

Vaccinations should remain a personal choice. I am going to do what is best for my child and not follow suite with the herd. That is what a good mother does.

I am very concerned that people rather have a disabled or autistic child, which in itself is trading one evil for the other. yikes.

We chose not to vaccinate our 4 youngest until they were 2 years old. It wasn't a well received decision, and recently had a full blown CDC investigation because of, calling it "Medical Neglect". It was a long drawn out incident, and still on going. It's a huge hot topic that I think needs more research before being forced upon us.

Heather, I am quite distressed to see that this is your belief. Respectfully, I have to say that some of your ideas are flawed. As a microbiologist with a PhD, I have to say that vaccines have saved lives. Imagine if vaccines did not exist. All our children would be100% at risk (rather than the 1 in whatever that gets a side effect). The fact that the majority do vaccinate is what protects the unvaccinated, it's called herd immunity. Plus, these diseases do kill, including the Flu. I see it every season at work. If you don't want the vaccine with thimerosol, just ask for the presevative free version. They do exist, usually for infants and pregnant women, but you can always request it. I prefer a possible side effect from a vaccine over possible death from the disease anyday.

I understand your reasons for not wanting to vaccinate, but I still think it is necessary because of all the terrible whooping cough deaths and the terrible measles outbreak right now that is making a lot of kids sick. I choose to vaccinate, and I wish you well and thanks for helping me see that there is risks involved.

Thank you for sharing on this topic! I go back and forth with trying to figure out what is best. We have done some vaccines with our oldest, but our youngest two haven't had any. Not sure if it is linked to the vaccines or not, but our oldest gets sick more than our younger two.
