I received coupons directly from 8th Continent for the sole purpose of this review
If you have a lactose intolerant person in your household you know what a pain that can be.
I don't want to tell the whole story, but my husband is lactose intolerant and one morning I put literally a splash of milk in his coffee, probably a teaspoon's worth. And he had 'issues' with just that. Sometimes he handles dairy better than other days, but it's really not something we're willing to risk.
So when 8th Continent contacted me I jumped at the chance.
The only local store here that carries it is Walmart and they only have the original (hubby prefers the vanilla). But I still got my free cartons and brought them home.
He's not a huge fan of the original. He won't sit down a drink a glass of it, but he'll add it to his coffee an use it with cereal.
But the kids have been drinking it without any complaints at all.
I mix Emerson's with half milk so he's still getting the nutritional value of his milk in there.
I for one, don't drink soymilk, I don't like the taste or texture. So I haven't even tasted the 8th continent, but since the kids drink it, I know it's good! But I have used it in my baking and you can't tell a difference. So this is the perfect alternative to a lactose intolerant family, or also gluten free and dairy free family as well.
There is 8 grams of soy protein in the Original, made from US soybeans, and an excellent source of Calcium.
8th Continent is a smaller, family based company out of California.
Price: A half gallon at my walmart was just about $3. I wish my store would carry the vanilla or chocolate.
Overall: *****
*Disclaimer* I received an item directly from 8th Continent in exchange for a review. I was not paid to try out these products*
