The Cardboard Guys Review

I received an item from Cardboard Guys for the sole purpose of this review

This is written by my BRAND NEW co-reviewer Stacy!!! Welcome her to the team!

The Cardboard Guys are a new company that make furniture for children out of 100% recyclable cardboard. They saw a problem and found a way to turn it around! According to their website : "9.8 million tons of furniture waste accumulates in U.S. landfills each year." that is crazy! Their products are made out of 50% recycled products, and 50% from a sustainable tree farm here in the pacific northwest!

I received their Kids Imagination Furniture Set, the set consists of a desk and chair (plus spare parts) completely made of cardboard!

At first glance I panicked and was about to ship it back because the parts were not numbered or color coded. So I took the time to read over the parts a few times and arranged everything by what it looked like it was for. Of course my kids wanted to help but it was too overwhelming to have the little ones messing with parts so I had to send one kid to go play, and strap the baby up in the baby carrier. My 9 year old was charged with taking pictures of the process. Once I got going the assembly was pretty easy, I found a few places that could benefit from some reinforcement so I added some double sided permanent tape. The website says no added adhesive is needed, but I like to be safe rather than sorry, the recommended ages are 4-8 and I have a 1 year old running around. It took me about 1.5 hours to get everything together, this was with "help" from my 1 year old.

The set comes with everything you need to decorate it, the included crayons and markers are Crayola (I didn't let the kids use the paint, we were on carpet)! My kids were so excited when I told them they got to color on their new desk and chair! The girls sat for a good hour just coloring on it the first night, and every few days I see a new doodle, or scribble if the baby got to it. My daughter is 9 and uses this every night for her homework.

As far as durability goes I can see why the age range is 4-8, my one year old has completely disassembled the chair a few times, I never did get the top of the desk to stay on properly, and double sided tape hasn't held it down so far. I'm planning to get some duct tape to secure it very soon. I'm glad it comes with a few spare parts, and it even gives you ideas on how to add on to your desk. If your purchase the set from thecardboardguys.com you will get a print off emailed to you so your kids can brainstorm and practice how they are going to decorate their item! Their customer service is amazing!

Price: You really get what you pay for at the price point of $99.99.

Overall: ****/5 I'm hoping in the future the Cardboard Guys might consider some recycled Post-Its labeling each part for poor tired mamas like me!

*Disclaimer* I received an item directly from Th Cardboard Guys in exchange for a review. I was not paid to try out these products*
A big thank you goes out to The Cardboard Guys for allowing me to review this product

Does look like they need to have better instructions and labeling. Fun to have furniture kids can draw on.

Oh that looks like so much fun for the kids! I know Carter will not let me throw out a cardboard box! He loves to play in and on them and color them! I will have to check into these for Christmas!
