Safeguarding Your Children While They're Online!

As a parent, my number one priority in life is to protect my children. Danger literally lurks around every corner these days. One corner that most people do not take as much caution with is the Internet. One of my children is in school, and they need to use the computer every now and then for school assignments and projects. One thing I am always adamant about is making sure I safeguard my child whenever they are on the computer. There are dangerous people just waiting for vulnerable and naive children to click on their link to open up a chat window and give them tons of information, not knowing how dangerous it really is.

There are a few things I like to do in order to keep my kids safe online:

·    I like to use Windows Parental Controls. I want to make sure my child isn’t exposed to any unsafe pictures, videos, etc.
·    I want to control the use of social media. Online bullying is real, and it’s huge. This happens more than we think and it is usually “behind closed doors” and we never even hear about it until it has gone too far.
·    I also like to give a time limit on the Internet usage in our home.

Here is an easy way to see How to Track Your Kids.

There are so many things we can be doing to keep our children safe. The world is a dangerous place. Anything can happen inside and outside of the home, but anything can also happen online and sometimes children can give information they don’t even realize is putting themselves and their family in danger. Not to mention, there are tons of people who can track IP address and pinpoint your location. Keeping an eye on our children while they are on the computer is so important. What are some things you do in order to keep your kids safe online?

My son isn't old enough to use the computer, but these are good things to keep in mind.

Our school offers a yearly program for parents to keep us up to date on all the new apps kids and teens use and ways that kids can get into trouble online.
