2015 Mazda CX-9

I think Mazda has quickly become one of my favorite car brands. They are affordable and packed full of features that you'd expect to pay a lot more for. They are roomy, have zoom zoom (that is their motto after all), and get decent gas mileage.

If you're in the market for a nice little crossover, then I highly recommend the Mazda CX-9.

I recently was given the opportunity to take the CX-9 on a 'vacation' of mine for July. Well I used that vacation to visit my grandma 2.5 hours away. We usually make this trip 1-2 times a year anyway, so what better time than now?!

I was so surprised when I first saw the CX-9, but I was even more pleasantly surprised getting to take it on a road trip like I did. We went up on a Friday morning and came home on a Monday morning, it was a good amount of driving for 1 weekend, but the CX-9 made it a BREEZE!

Bose speakers to pump out any sound you like!

I loved the center console area. Very nice and easy controls and a decent size center console for storage as well (see the pic later below)

I liked the time display up above the dash. Made it easy to see and read without straying your eyes too far from the road.

Center console with a USB port right in it.
This picture is a bit deceiving, but it fit my large Canon point and shoot in here.
Sun/Moonroof!

Backup camera has become a necessary feature for me and they are becoming standard.

The 2015 Mazda CX-9 seats 7 passengers. 2 in front, 3 in middle and 2 in the far back. It is very spacious no matter which row you are sitting in.
2nd row on left and back row on right.

Both seats in the middle row fold down completely. But Mazda took it an extra step and also made it so the seat slides fully forward and also tilts for easy access to the third row.

The spacious trunk on its own, also with one 50/50 3rd row folded down and then with both rows folded flat.

Here are all my seats in the Mazda CX-9. I had my 2 boys in the middle row and my daughter in her booster in the very back.
I would've preferred to have had my toddler in the third row as well, but there was only LATCH and a top tether in the middle row. His seat requires a top tether when using forward facing.

So keep that in mind. This vehicle will only LATCH and top tether 2 seats!

I slid the seat all the way forward so my daughter could climb in the third row. There isn't a ton of room there, and an adult probably couldn't easily fit, but for my family this setup worked just fine.

Console storage in 2nd row.

Temperature control in middle row.

Hooks for the included cargo net in trunk

Where the spare tire  tools are is also a neat little storage area. When we went to my grandma's house, I stored the kids helmets in here.

Although the CX-9 doesn't get the gas mileage I hoped it would, it is about the same as my van so I can't complain. It gets 16/22 or 18mpg average. I was getting about 21.5 on the highway.

The Mazda CX-9 has some of my favorite features like the Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. It also has Dynamic Stability Control and Roll Stability Control, helps prevent wheelspin and helps you gain traction.

And it of course featured the Push Button start that I'm in love with!! Means I can leave my keys in my purse, Get in and start the vehicle with ease.

The Mazda CX-9 has 3 models. Sport starting at $29,985. Touring starting at $32,480 and the Grand Touring (that I received) starting at $35,035. The one I received had a sticker price of $39,890

Overall I would highly recommend the Mazda CX-9, lots of features, safety features and plenty of space for a family.

*Disclaimer, I received a Mazda CX-9 for a 1 week test drive. All opinions here are 100% my own and I was not compensated to write this post, other than receiving the vehicle.

Mazda should win all all. A little less consumer aesthetics a little better, a little better emissions and a little cheaper. Where is empante? I should have won even for a bit.
