Usually when one of my children wins an award it is computer generated on a piece of paper-sometimes framed-sometimes not. Now I am always excited and make a big deal about it-sending notices to all my friends and family. After all, to win an award for anything is a big accomplishment in any child’s life. The pride I see on my child’s face and the glowing smile as they present it to me (and as it is presented to them with me looking on)-just makes me so very happy. I know you know what I am talking about if your child has ever presented you with an award they won for doing exceptionally well in a school subject or team activity. This award is put prominently on display for all to see and to admire.
But I was thinking—wouldn't it be a really nice gesture to have Glass Awards or Plaques to give out for really exceptional jobs done? It would not cost the school that much more since only truly exceptional work would be honored this way. And I know I would chip in if the school could really not afford it. Talk to the PTA-they may be able to arrange it. I have heard that businesses give these types of awards to companies who are at the absolute top of whatever they make in their industry, as well as sports teams. I have even seen one or two at a friend’s house.
Imagine the look on your child’s face as he or she is handed one of these for being the top of their class-or even for having the most improvement over the year. Now this would be something they could treasure their entire lives (not to mention your pride in their accomplishments).
