Natural Remedy: Master Tonic Information and Recipe

Have you heard of Master Tonic? I've been looking up natural remedies for sickness a lot lately. Usually around this time of the year we get lots of colds. We don't usually get seriously sick, but colds come and go like hot cakes. And now with an even younger one in the house it will be great to start treating for these sicknesses' now before they even start. Especially since Avery's in school and she comes in contact with AT LEAST 25 other students every day, she's bringing home a lot more germs.

Master Tonic is a natural treatment for a lot of infections. Mainly it can cure the common cold. It's anti-fungal, antiviral, anti-parasitic and anti-bacterial.

The reason it's so powerful is because of the fresh ingredients and because they are designed to stimulate blood circulation (which is quickest through the mouth) which helps introduce the detoxifying ingredients into your body.

ABOUT THE INGREDIENTS

Garlic- it's an antibiotic that kills bacteria.  Man made antibiotics kill the good bacteria as well as the bad, garlic just kills the bad and leaves all of the good bacteria that our bodies need. It even increases the amount of healthy bacteria. Garlic is also an anti-viral (colds, flu and upper respiratory infections) and anti-fungal.

Onions- have a potent antibiotic, diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown onions to be an effective expectorant, making them useful for infections like the common cold, flu and persistent coughs. Onions have also been shown to  help prevent heart disease by stopping cholesterol from attaching to arterial walls and blood platelets from sticking together and forming clots.

Horseradish- From the same family as mustard and cabbage it is naturally anti-parasitic and antibacterial. Also has expectorant properties. It also stimulates your immune system. It has warming properties, so it's great and potent for sinuses and lungs. It helps open your sinus passages and increases blood flow there, which is where the common cold and flu usually begins.

Ginger- To start off with, this is great for lowering cholesterol, so it's great to add to anything you're cooking with. It's naturally antimicrobial and boosts immune system. It can help with chills, cold and fever. It's also great for an upset stomach, so whether you're pregnant or just feeling sour, it can help. And since it boosts your immune system naturally, it really is great to cook with it often.

Hot Peppers- can boost your immune system, has warming properties and can also is a great natural decongestant.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar- has a lot of amazing properties to it. A natural antifungal and antiseptic, great for detoxifying, digestion and a lot more.

  7. Place the mixture into the colander and use a plate to press out all the liquid
  8. Pour the liquid through a funnel in amber bottles
USING THE TONIC

Master tonic is STRONG. It's spicy and has a kick!

For daily immune boosting, drink 1-2 ounces, two (or more) times per day. Put it in your mouth, swish it around, pull through your teeth (the mouth is the quickest way to the bloodstream) gargle and swallow. Don't dilute with water or the effect won't be as great.

If you're fighting an infection, take the tonic 4 (or more) times a day. It can be used during pregnancy and is safe for children as well (use smaller doses) since food is non-toxic.

I usually only get a cold once every 3-5 years, but when I do it makes up for the lag. I will concoct a batch of this the next time I feel one coming on, as it sounds quite effective. It sure has a great mix of some potent ingredients, though I'm not sure if it cure the ills or *scares* them away :)

Some really hot stuff there. I don't think I could stomach a couple of ounces of this. How did you get your kids to take it?

Wow! My fiance wasn't too keen on trying this when I read him the recipe but it sounds pretty awesome to me! I'd rather drink a small amount of this than sickly sweet cough syrup. This is very cool, can't wait to try it..

I've been doing research on home remedies to help my Mom with some ailments. Most of my research has stated that Garlic, Peppers, and Ginger were in just about every remedy recommended - which is on your list of ingredients. I didn't know about the Apple Cider Vinegar, but I'm definitely adding that to my list. Thank you so much for this information.

I used to scoff at natural remedies, but then I realized that fennel tea worked far better and faster than the drug my doc had given me (and without the slew of side effects). Maybe that was a lesson to be a bit more open minded!

I'm going to have to hope that the Elderberry Syrup works on what I might catch, because I don't think I could handle the master tonic.

Terri said...

Wow, this sounds like a great remedy and I will try it soon. I always knew onions and garlic were good for colds and I make Chicken soup and put lots of them in it, always feels like it helps speed up the recovery. This looks like it would pack a kick!

I love love love this!! This is getting bookmarked! Luckily our household made it through cold and flu season without anyone getting sick. CRAZY with a 7 year old! I am extra concerned about it now that I have an infant. I am going to make this and have it on hand just in case!!! Thanks SO MUCH for the post!

I have known for some time the natural healing properties of most of these ingredients, and I am asking myself - why didn't I come up with this on my own?! Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar has been a staple in my home for many years!

lil_lady_dz said...

The ingredients sound kinda harsh when all mixed together, but I will try anything once to see if it works.

This is very similar to the "Tonic" my grandmother would have me drink at the start middle and end of each season. Said it cured what ailed ya and warded off any thing that was headed towards me . The ingredients smelled awful but it sure did work. Good to see you posting this up! Very kind!

Seems like a pretty wild concoction, but if it works, it's worth a shot! Thanks for sharing!.

I get so tired of adding more medications to my body. If I can just not do that and add something natural to it instead to get over things like colds, I'd be much happier, and I think my body would too. Thanks so much for posting this.

Unknown said...

My Mom and Grandmother always had homemade remedies for everything. I remember lots of them. Thanks for the tonic recipe.

Unknown said...

I am just now getting into all these natural and homemade remedys. Started off with essential oils. This sounds like what we need around our house too! I am going to give it a try!

I love the Master Tonic Information and Recipe. Who knew these ingredients together could be so helpful to our health. I am going to use this. Thank you very much.

Unknown said...

I've been looking for a D.I.Y. recipe just like this! I can't wait to try it. This will be awesome to keep on hand. Thanks for the recipe.

I can’t believe that a natural remedy like the Master Tonic Recipe can fight so many illnesses and be so good for your body at the same time. I never knew that garlic, onions, and Horseradish would be so powerful and had so many uses. Thanks for the recipe and information on the ingredients that will do so much and help so much in our bodies.

Unknown said...

I have a tip that might be useful. Put Master Tonic in a small amber glass spray bottle like you can get at health food stores. Spray it into your mouth throughout the day when you are coming down with something. Someone gave me some like this years ago and I was shocked and thrilled at how well it worked. I cannot wait to make my own! It was from a friend of a friend of a friend that lived out of town, so I never figured out what it was or how to get more until now!

Amber Ludwig said...

Oooh this sounds amazing!! I can imagine how it gets rid of most ailments, the smell alone probably sends them running for the hills ;) I pinning for later!! Can't wait to make it!!
