Summer #BlogChallenge Day 48

Going Green with the Grizls
Day #48, Things to do if the power goes out.

Being prepared is VERY important! You need to have a flashlight in every main room of the house. Living room, kitchen, laundry room and master bedroom are super important. Also one in an older child's bedroom as well.
Cell phone with car charger!
You should have food on hand that doesn't need to be cooked. OR can be cooked on a grill!
Try and make sure you have a big cooler and take the ice from your freezer and put it in there (or go get ice) so you can store your fridge and freezer items!

If the power goes out, here's some things you can do to pass the time
  • Watch movies on a laptop or portable DVD player. This is also nice if you can plug them into your vehicle. We have a DVD system in the van, so we could all go out there and watch a movie!
  • Go for a walk!
  • Play board games in candle light!
  • Do a lot of stuff OUTSIDE!!

I remember when I was little the power went out for 3ish days. It was summer time so we did a lot outside. My mom made Sun Tea. My brother made a makeshift grill and cooked meat on it. My mom filled up her coolers with ice and our frozen food and kept them in the basement where it was dark and cool. It was a lot of work, but we made do!
