Yes, I just said that... Beds are so expensive, Mattress and Bed at least $1000. So I decided to make one! I'm using this template Here and Here because I am making a twin. This is so cheap. We bought everything last night, I build the footboard and part of the headboard. I'm almost done, staining it and finishing it today and then I'll take a complete picture.
All lumber was $74, everything else TOTAL including Lumber was $128. But we bought a big thing of deck screws to use because we use them for everything and that in itself was $20. So Probably closer to $115 and one stain will probably go back because I bought 2 to be safe.
Here is the headboard and footboard last night before completing the foot. This is how the head looks as of now.
Footboard completed!
Just need to finish the headboard (make it equal) and do the side rails, then stain, then assemble in Avery's room. Jon is getting her mattress today. Art Van had a Sealy for $200, so that's not bad. Then she can sleep in her big girl bed for her nap and tonight! She's going to love it!

Looks great.
The stain may not be dry in time for her to use it to sleep in tonight.
You will want to have her door open the first few nights she does sleep in her big girl bed because of the fumes from the stain. Unless you used an eco friendly stain - than their should not be any off gassing smell.
You may also want to crack a window for a few minutes during the day.
Thanks for introducing me to a new blog "AnaWhite"
