Stepping Stones Together Review & Giveaway

Stepping Stones Together is an online reading program for children! Teach your child to read in 90 days is there motto. I'm sure it will work. Avery is still quite young for learning how to read, but she has enjoyed the books that were on the website.

I was given a UN and password good for 2 weeks on the website. We have used that up and Avery asks to read more online books almost every day. I think in about another year we will buy the membership and teach her how to read. Since she's just now learning her letter sounds and the phonics, I think it's best to wait another year before purchasing this membership.

Stepping Stones Together was founded to empower parents with the tools and knowledge needed to instill a lifetime foundation of love & commitment to reading, while also creating an invaluable bond with their child.

What is Unique about Stepping Stones Together? Stepping Stones Together was designed for parents to help their child with beginning reading skills. We understand parents today juggle many responsibilities. Our personalized online and printable reading program supplies parents with the necessary tools to take achievable early reading steps with their child. Stepping Stones Together utilizes methods that are directly connected with research on the positive correlation between parental involvement and academic success. The following links share research on the importance of reading, parental involvement, and summer learning.

There are 3 levels of reading skill. A, B and C. We have only read books from A as of now. If we purchase in the future, that's when B and C will come into play.

On the main page there is a demo book so you can see how it works. I like that the books are not in color. There is nothing to distract the child, just a B&W photo and the words describing the photo. Pretty simple and effective.

Every book has a story writing prompt and a reading comprehension in the beginning. So a child answers the questions that are asked and you know they were listening, or were paying attention to what they read. This is really effective.

Price: 90 days is $20 and 1 yr is $40. 1 yr is definitely worth it.

Overall: ***** I will rate it a 5, but I think she needs to be older to completely understand what's going on. I think if we had a 1 yr membership she could learn better and be taught how to read. But because it was so short lived, it didn't teach her.

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP; 2002) reported that proficient readers are improving while struggling readers are continuing to lose ground.
