Oh My Goodness

So I just realized that it's almost September and I need to start homeschooling Avery in 2 weeks. I know this isn't real homeschool, but we're setting a schedule. Nothing too fancy, just start by 10 and be done by 1 with a 30 minutes snack break thrown in there.

We are ready, I just have to buy some more workbooks. I'm starting her so early, so that I have 2 trial run years before officially deciding this is what I want to do. I don't know that I can dedicate 3 hours to homeschooling her and then more and more as the years go on. I'm not so sure, so We'll see how it goes. I'll probably be ok.

Since we're going on vacation this weekend I have decided to start her schooling on the 13th. And although we do a lot of stuff already, I'm really going to crack down!!! I'm usually just climbing out of bed at 10. I need to quit going to bed at 1AM (yes look at the time I posted this 12:48 AM my time) and I need to have her at the table eating breakfast by 9:30. I figure I can shower after while she's watching an educational video, but I need to get up a little earlier. I guess it doesn't matter what time we start and end, but I want it to be the same time every day. The sooner the better so we can do field trips and parks after.

I just need to buy some last minute stuff and then I'll be totally ready (I think).

Wow! Good luck and I would love to hear how it goes. I've thought about homeschooling my son (he's only 2 so I have a little while to still think about it) but I don't really know anyone who's done it before so it would be great to hear about it from someone who is doing it!

Best of luck, Heather! Just keep in mind (which I am sure you have already) that this can be a lot easier said than done. If she's not used to sitting down to do activities, it could take her a few months to really adjust to it. I have gotten frustrated doing Lucy's workbooks with her, and I only do it occasionally! So when it gets tough, just hang in there! :) Good luck to you! I look forward to hearing about your adventures!

I will Michelle!
She is so used to sitting down and sitting still. We do an hour of flashcards and workbooks already so she'll be just fine. As long as I get 1 hour of undivided attention a day at this age, I will be 100% happy. And I only want to do 3 days a week for right now.
